Ghost Mailbox?  :)
Hello. Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003 R2 System in a Server 2003 AD Structure, single Domain, single Mail Server. I have an issue where, when people send email to a particular group, there is a Delivery Report that says: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Helpdesk Request Sent: 4/28/2010 5:01 PM The following recipient(s) could not be reached: Corp Admin on 4/28/2010 5:01 PM The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address. <MailServer.NameOfCompany.local #5.1.1> Corp Admin does NOT exist in the Active Directory structure, and I see no reference to this name in the group/user being emailed. Any ideas on what I should check next? Or, possibly, what to do to fix? :) Thanks, Gene.

Check to see if a user in that DL has a delgate that is no longer valid: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909638 Members of your organization may receive a non-delivery report if your delegate’s mailbox object is removed from Active Directory before you can remove the delegate in Outlook 2003 the KB references mfcmapi but doesnt say why its relevant - you can use it to remove a delegate rule following this KB, which references the old mdbvu32 util. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312433

Agree with Andy. A similar thread for your reference: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/e064f8bf-7011-43e6-a871-685e966f47d6 Thanks, Elvis

Thanks for the reminder. :) My client went through the process of rebuilding a group, and that took care of the issue. I still have no idea where Corp Admin came from, but the problem went away. Their AD structure was pretty well tore up when I got a hold of it - still a lot of little pieces floating around behind the scenes that prohibits me making objects with certain names. I guess I have a little bit of "surgery" to perform to get this working well. :) Thanks for all the help! Gene.
